Its the Dead Sea in Israel, and its called like that because nothing can thrive there, due to the intense saline levels. In hebrew they don't call it Dead Sea, though, the name they give it means something different.
Its well worth a visit and its very known for its healthy mineral properties. One of the most famous and great brand of skin products is produced here, and its called AHAVA, which means Love in hebrew.

Well it was actually quite warm there, thats the paradox. Its 408 meters below sea level, and at the height of Winter I was able to take a swim there, and walk around in a bikini :)
